Hey guys! Hope this mail finds you well! I wanted to forward you all this email...
...as I thought it may be of interest to you. Shelley was a close teammate of mine (back in the day) whose dedication and ambition in skiing and life in general were insurmountable. Shelley chased her dreams and made those dreams a reality through hard work and passion, landing a spot on the US ski team. Shelley's life ended in a tragic training accident in May 2004. Shelley was an inspiration to all of those who had the pleasure to cross her path. In memory of Shelley, her rock star parents, Rich and Carmella, created the Shelley Glover Sports Education Foundation, for which I have whole-heartedly served as a board member. Their commitment to the growth of the foundation is unwavering. They are truly an inspiration for me as they continue to spread the joy that Shelley so often spread in the lives of teammates and young athletes who looked up to her. What does this mean to you? Well, I am emailing all of you because I feel you have one unifying, consistent passion - the passion for athletics (and a cause!). Rich and Carmella are in the midst of organizing a century bike ride in Shelley's honor. I thought this may be of interest to you who knew Shelley, and those who did not know her but are interested in taking on a challenge for a good cause by signing up to compete in the ride. I would love if you could consider getting involved - whether it means giving, riding, or simply passing this memo on to those who may be interested. I wish I could be there to help participate, but an ocean separates me from the event. The least I can do is spread the word. As Shelley's father said, Shelley was a gifted athlete, but, more than that, she was an inspiration. She chased her dream with an unwavering commitment and passion, and did it with humility and a profound compassion for others. We will no longer see her footsteps on that path. But, like so many others before her, her light still shines so that others can see the way.
So, this is really not just about Shelley's story. It is also about those who will go on, those who will continue to inspire us all. It is about dreams and how they become real. It is about taking the tragic events in life and creating something beautiful in their wake.
There are, and will be, events and funds and committees making plans. That will also be a part of Shelley's continuing story, but those things are not the sole purpose of this endeavor. This will be a profoundly personal space, ours and yours. We hope that people will find that this is a place to regain perspective, hope and commitment - a place to be inspired."

Thank you all! Smiles and sunshine,
